Something we all can do for our own good

Today’s verse is from Proverbs 15:13 and is a challenge for all of us to consider,

“A glad heart makes a happy face;
    a broken heart crushes the spirit.”

One of the principles I encourage my students to do on the golf course in order to help lower their scores, is to smile throughout their round … regardless of outcomes.

As followers of Christ it shouldn’t be too difficult for us to go throughout the day with a smile on our face … considering both our eternal reality, as well as having the presence of the Holy Spirit always here (moment-by-moment) to help us with our perspective.

Proverbs 17:22 says,

“A cheerful heart is good medicine,
    but a broken spirit saps a person’s strength.”

Similar to what I ask my students to do whenever I lay out a proposition or a game plan for them to implement that will help them play better golf … I would encourage you to ‘poke holes’ in my encouragement to smile your way through each and every day.

I’m open to hearing alternatives to this simple (but not easy) attitudinal change. Please take my 30-day “SMILE” challenge and follow-up to let me know if you experienced any noticeable or note worthy impact?
