The second law of thermodynamics and our eternal future
As much as we might not like to admit it … our bodies (as well as the earth) are subject to entropy, and the reality is that we will all continue to decay over time.
Hebrews 1:10-12,
“In the beginning, Lord, you laid the foundation of the earth
and made the heavens with Your hands. They will perish, but You remain forever. They will wear out like old clothing. You will fold them up like a cloak and discard them like old clothing. But You are always the same; You will live forever.”
Perhaps we would be wise to think more about our own mortality than just when we’re at a friend or family members memorial service … and to seriously examine why we believe what we believe.
Hebrews 9:27-28 says,
“Just as people are destined to die once, and after that to face judgment, so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.”
The Apostle Peter said in Acts 4:11-12,
“For Jesus is the one referred to in the Scriptures, where it says, ‘The stone that you builders rejected has now become the cornerstone.’ There is salvation in no one else! God has given no other name under heaven by which we must be saved.”
Regardless of the season of life you’re currently in … are you prepared to put your eternal future into the hands of a loving and a just God once you take your final breath on this earth?
