A Biblical response to YOLO (you only live once)

As follower’s of Christ we would do well to NOT fall for the lie of doing whatever we want. This motto has been popularized in our culture, and seemingly people think it will provide them ‘cover,’ while giving them excuses for acting irresponsibly.

This vain philosophy is the opposite of making choices based upon Godly wisdom … and leads those who adopt it to ignore the negative consequences that are sure to come their way.

The Apostle Paul says in Galatians 8:6,

“Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life.”

Paul also says in Ephesians 5:12-13 & 15-16,

“It is shameful even to talk about the things that ungodly people do in secret. But their evil intentions will be exposed when the light shines on them, for the light makes everything visible. Living by the Spirit’s Power, so be careful how you live. Don’t live like fools, but like those who are wise. Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days.”

While it’s true that we only get to live once on this earth as it currently is under the curse of sin … may we be so tuned into the Holy Spirit, that we ultimately will glorify Jesus in all that we do!
